We had a successful naturalization interview in Charlotte today. My client entered as a tourist, married and obtained conditional resident status over a decade ago. She failed to file her removal of conditions for over 10 years due in large part to spousal abuse from that marriage. We filed her petiton to remove conditions based on both good faith termination of the marriage and battery pursuant to VAWA. We late filed the case, plead good cause for the late filing and the district director of the service center accepted the filing early last year. The I-751 was approved in December and the client received her ten year card.
As she had been technically an LPR for over ten years, we then filed for naturalization and had the interview in Charlotte today. My client passed her tests and was approved. It is very gratifying to see a good person who status has slipped away from them not be villified and to ultimately get what they deserve; to be a U.S. citizen.
Amazing stuff,Thanks so much for this! This is very useful post for me.
