The Border Patrol, a section of Customs and Border Protection, made several more arrests this weekend. Most of the bus travelers were going from New York and New Jersey to Chicago. The Border Patrol detained at least seven by the number of phone calls we received this morning. All are being held in Tiffin, Ohio at the Seneca County Jail with a CBP determination of no bond.
Any of these people with verifiable addresses and some form of relief will likely be granted a bond by an immigration judge at the Cleveland, Ohio immigration court. However, ICE will not participate in an administrative redetermination. Thus, motions will have to be filed with the immigration court. It's a waste of resources when most of these detainees are eligible for a reasonable bond.
